The About Tale Modeco

The name “Modeco” originates from the synthesis of the terminologies “Modernism” and “Art Deco,” two prevailing periods of the 20th century that exerted substantial influence on design and aesthetics. The Modeco design represents a departure from the previous modernistic trend and signifies the emergence of a new era, one where ornamentation is once again valued. Essentially, it is Nordic Tales’ first venture into a novel period of design where ornamentation plays a more significant role.

An Ode to European Cultural History

It is an endeavor to embrace and reintroduce ornamentation and feminine values. In the late 20th century, the modernistic ideology was, to some extent, misinterpreted, and concepts like “less is more” were misconstrued as “cheaper is better.” This view, focused on economic optimization, disregarded the essential human desire for decorative ornamentation.

We hold the conviction that by harmoniously integrating values from both modernism and Art Deco into our creations in the 21st century, we can produce objects that are functional while still addressing the fundamental human need for decoration.

Design Period 2015-2019

In this period Nordic Tales underwent a significant transformation, moving to a concept store in Aarhus that served as a design laboratory. Engaging with visitors, the company embraced feedback to shape its future direction.
Nordic Tales matured through exhibitions in major European capitals and expanded its reach to other parts of the world, such Paris and Milan. The company adopted the latest technology, including 3D printers and virtual reality, fostering a symbiotic relationship between humans and machines. This period marked a new chapter for Nordic Tales, characterized by transformation, expansion, and technological advancements, showcasing the importance of embracing change and innovation in the design world.

Description

Bright Modeco Glass Pendant

Bright Modeco is a mouth blown glass lamp. Bright Modeco is finished with a solid piece of brass. Bright Modeco plus is basically a vertically extended version of the Bright Modeco.

This member of the Modeco glass lamp Family is shaped from the proportions of a hall way, which typically is taller than it is width.

This makes Modeco plus, very suitable for corridors, since its shape stresses the overall lines of the architecture.
Modeco plus works very well in taller rooms in genereal, due to its shape that emphasizes the vertical axis of the room.

The word Modeco is a contraction of the two words modernism and Art Deco. This way Bright Modeco is a compromise between ornamentation and strict modernistic minimalism. We believe that both modernism and Art Deco holds parts of the truth. Bright Modeco seek to bridge Modernism and Art Deco in a new lamp.

Bright Modeco glass lamp provides a soft and diffuse light that is very suitable to create what we call a hyggelig atmosphere in danish, not much different from the concept of cosyness.

The lamp design

The light bulb of Bright Modeco can easily be replaced since the lamp comes with a E27 Socket. This allows you to set the scene just as you prefer. You can use Bright Modeco in a corner of your bedroom with a dimmed light, or in the living as a reading light, or even combine Bright Modeco in a larger installation over the kitchen counter or the dinning table. The possibilities are many and it is up to you to find out how you get the most out of your Modeco glass lamp.
