Clearly, no detail of a Nordic Tales design ever goes unnoticed. This is especially true about Moth Chair: Designer Jonas Hoejgaard has thought of it all when he designed this award-winning chair.

A Rorschach Project

Moth Chair has a cleaved back to avoid pressure on the spine, making the chair as ergonomic as possible. Two brass knobs are keeping the thin back piece in place as well as patterning the wings of the moth. The famous Rorschach test played a big part in positioning the knobs, creating an expression that can be read as either cheerful or melancholy depending on the nature of the observer.

Moth Chair is a truly comfortable dining chair, and by placing a single Moth Chair strategically you get a beautiful piece of art.

A Danish Design Chair

Moth is the founding member of the Nordic Tales’ After Eight collection. A collection of furniture dedicated to those of you who shine after the sun has set.

The charismatic expression is the result of a left and right brain design process. The chair has been cleaved in the middle, leaving no pressure on the spine in order to achieve the most ergonomically possible product. The brass knobs are keeping the only eight millimeter thick back piece in place and pattern the wings. The lower back piece is intended to tangent the solid metal rods and completes the face of the Moth chair.

The Idea behind the danish design chair

The famous Rorschach test has played a huge part in positioning the eyes of the moth in order to create an expression that can be read as both cheerful and melancholy depending on the nature of the observer.

Besides molded plywood and structure coated steel, the Moth comes with a special detail to complete the after eight mood. On the back, it has two corks specially imported from a famous champagne cork supplier. Besides these corks, the whole chair has been designed, developed, and produced in Denmark.

Exhibitions  & and art index Denmark

The danish design chair Moth, is a part of the permanent collection of TRAPHOLT. It has won best of Category at Archiproducts 2016 and is also registered in the danish national art index as a piece of art. It has been nominated for several prices during the years, and have been selected by architects for hospitality projects and larger development projects both in Denmark and around Europe.
